   Proposal Description:
   The overarching aim is to assess the effects of age on atrophy rates. The specific research questions are:   A) In those patients who have serial imaging, what is the relationship between change in brain and hippocampal volume with age? Does this differ between AD, MCI and controls? Does APOE e4 modify the relationships seen? Do vascular risk factors or events influence change in brain or hippocampal volume and is this independent of age?   B) Are changes in brain volume associated with changes in cognitive scores? Does this relationship differ between AD, MCI and controls? Do any associations remain following adjustment for age?   C) Using longitudinal voxel based morphometry, are there areas outside of the medial temporal lobe which change more with increasing or decreasing age?
